Style

something to say.

Life is full of different things to do, see and wear. This is a blog about clothes I love, places I've been, and people I know. These are my feelings, and my inspiration. Maybe they're yours too.

Paramore - Ignorance (live on T4)

This is Paramore live on T4, performing Ignorance! Awesome huh?!
For some reason, Paramore is one of those classically consistent bands that always have a massive following with all kinds of music-lovers, and turn out really great songs all the time. The band intitally started out in 2002, when their lead singer Hayley Williams moved out to Franklin, TN, but this was just jamming together. They officially started out as a formed group in 2004.

They consist of Josh Farro, Zac Farro, Jeremy Davis, Jason Bynum and lead vocalist Hayley.
This group is internationally acclaimed for their rock ballad modern tunes, with really soulful lyrics sung by a vocalist with real talent.
My favourite songs are Decode, and Ignorance, and their relatively new single The Only Exception.
Hope you like them, or appreciate their history a little more if you already loved them!!
More posts soon,
xoxo

The Shows

For me, I think my personality has actually been slightly moulded according to the programs I used to watch as either a toddler, or a little kid. For me these include Playschool, George & Martha, Franklin, Teletubbies, and Recess.
These shows, for some reason, captured my mind, took me somewhere else, and taught me all different things. With Playschool, it was how to make a puppet, and George & Martha; how to resolve arisen problems.
When kids are watching, they of course do not realise this, but its interesting to see how they actually affect us. For instance, little kids who watch high-action, gory shows, may end up a little violence-hungry. This isn't a fact, just my opinion.
What shows did you love as a kid? Are there any you still love now? Post below. xx

Goldfrapp - Alive

I'd heard of them occassionally in my all-time favourite magazine Frankie, but never decided to listen.
Let me tell you, please. Goldfrapp is Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory. These two people have collaborated to produce some awesome music. It has almost a 1980's vintage pop feel to it, yet it's brand new and fun.
My personal favourite song is Alive. It's almost a pop rock ballad beat, with some awesome scenes in the video clip, featuring rainbow coloured metallic 'blood' oozing from the necks of victimized dancers, (not as scary as it may sound).  Tell me what you think  :)

Di.licious Cupcakes

As much as I am into creating little hobby businesses, (especially cupcake ones) I have to hand it to the mother-daughter team at Di.licious Cupcakes. This is a small but lovely Ipswich business in the Old Flour Mill, and I've personally seen the adorable and tasty results of their hard work.

The shop is daintily set up with pink and white striped wallpaper, with shelves full of treats and merchandise, and glass stands of cupcakes at the back. There's even a kids play table to keep monsters occupied whilst your choosing your deliciousness.

There's also a tonne of creamy flavours to choose from, including Lamington Angels, Bee..licious Honeycomb, Toblerone and Choc Coco..licious, to list some of the more interesting ones.

You may want to have a look at their lovely little website now, and you can at: http://diliciouscupcakes.blogspot.com/

Farm Yard

I stare at the mirror, I'm studying the growing red lump on my forearm. An ant bite, a mysterious black ant with a feriocious bite, gave me this lump. We had driven to our friends 350 acre farm for the day, and it had been a good day, until I sat upon the green grass to rest.
Before I knew what had happened, it sunk its chompers into my flesh, and left me squealing and swearing. My friend looked at me like I was a lettuce growing legs! How could an ant bite hurt?, I bet she was wondering! Well previously I thought much the same thing.
Until the day of the dangerously painful BLACK ANT (which I suspect was a deadly hybrid of the meat ant and the fire ant).
Well, apart from that, our farmyard trip was lovely. Sitting on top of a grassy knoll, or at the top of a rocky mountain, there isn't much to worry about. The view of the grassy patchwork quilt below you is like being given permission to breathe a sigh of relief, quite enjoyable.
More on my trip to the Gold Coast soon, where an awesomely created Sushi Train was devoured, and sand-filled board shorts were obtained.

The GC Report

The majority of you reading this have probably been to the GC many times, and experienced almost all of its fascinating features. Well, I'm here to tell you some things about GC, from an almost local's point of view. Unlike Surfers (Paradise) the GC still remains somewhat a daggy surf town. There aren't too many skyscrapers, and the traffic isn't as immobile as a watermelon, i.e, it still moves.
So, I have been to the Gold Coast many times, and quite regularly if you like. Previously our visits consisted of trumping down the highway in a big red Nissan Patrol, with a creaky Songbird caravan in tow. We would set up camp, and practically live at the beach for a week or two.
This time, it was different.

We sold the tiny old caravan a few years back, and since then holidays have included booking hotels, or day trips. We stayed at Sand Castles in Currumbin, home to the famous Aussie wildlife sanctuary, constantly urging us to "Get Closer!". Well, to put it out there immediately, we didn't in fact visit there.
We did spend hours and days on end at the beach, where we had about 5 minutes of sunhine all up.
Most of the time at the beach was spent in competition with my brother, trying to build the biggest sandcastle we could before each wave hit, and the biggest and strongest remaining sand castle (or sand lump) was the winner!

The first night there we zipped off in the car to get some of the Indian food we so much enjoyed the last time we stayed down there. I apologise but I really cannot recall the name of the resturant. All I remember is that a Night Owl corner shop was in the same block of shops. It was lovely; rich and creamy and spicy butter chicken melted in our mouths back at the hotel.

We also had fish & chips; delicious, of course, but all fish and chip shops seemingly are down there, so the choice is yours. The highlight of cuisine for me was the Sushi Train. I had never actually dined at a sushi train before, or a train of any sort, and to see the Japanese chefs flame-grilling salmon through the glass was an exciting scene. I hastily grasped all kinds of fish, rice, and both mixed with some sort of green vegetable, (and yes, I do know what seaweed is!)

Sometime during our trip, we travelled a short distance into Surfers Paradise, and experienced the historical wonders of Ripley's Believe it Or Not! Museum. WOW. I honestly thought at first that because the main museum was in America, that there would not be many sights to see there, just phamplets and a tour video. May I say it now? Boy was I wrong! Step by step, you entered deeper and deeper into the world of Ripley's!

We saw sculptures of a Chinese emperor with two pupils in the same eye! Shrunken heads made from the scalp and face of the dead! And, oh so many ancient torture instruments!
Gee Whiz the lit-up Surfers Paradise is great.
But I really do love the little surfer town of the Gold Coast so much more. For the peace of the beach and the lullaby of the waves.
